Ingredients:
- 2 x 400g tins black beans, drained (480g or ~2 ½ cups when drained)
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- Pinch of chili flakes (optional, for heat)
Instructions:
Prepare the Beans
Rinse the drained black beans thoroughly under cold water to remove any excess liquid and salt.Season the Beans
In a bowl, mix together the black beans, oil, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, and chili flakes (if using). Stir until all the beans are well coated with the seasoning.Roast the Beans
Spread the seasoned beans in a single layer on a baking tray. Make sure they are not overcrowded, so they roast evenly.Bake
Roast at 190°C (375°F / Gas Mark 5) for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through the cooking time. The beans should be crispy but not completely hard.Serve
Once roasted, remove from the oven and use immediately. These crispy black beans are perfect as a snack, a topping for salads, or a crunchy addition to tacos or bowls.
