Chilli Cheese Toast Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar cheese can also be used)
  • 1-2 green chilies, chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 2-3 tablespoons green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 large sourdough bread slices (or 4 regular white bread slices, or brown bread)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
  • Chopped cilantro, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Grate the cheese and let it come to room temperature.
  2. In a bowl, combine the cheese, chilies, bell pepper, oregano, pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  3. Toast the bread slices in a pan over medium heat until lightly golden brown and crispy.
  4. Spread butter on the bread slices, if desired.
  5. Spread the cheese mixture evenly on the bread slices.
  6. Place the bread slices back in the pan and place a small bowl filled with water on the side of the pan.
  7. Cover the pan and cook over medium heat until the cheese melts, about 5 minutes.
  8. Remove the toast from the pan and garnish with cilantro. Serve immediately.

Air Fryer Instructions:

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 330 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Place the bread slices in the air fryer basket.
  3. Air fry for 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese melts.
  4. Remove the toast from the air fryer and cut into slices.
  5. Serve immediately.

Oven Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Toast the bread slices on a baking sheet until lightly golden brown on both sides, a few minutes per side.
  3. Top the bread slices with the cheese mixture.
  4. Bake for 5-6 minutes, or until the cheese melts and turns golden brown.
  5. Broil for a few seconds, if desired.
  6. Serve immediately.

Notes:

  • If you can't find Amul processed cheese, cheddar cheese is a good substitute. Mozzarella cheese can also be used, but it will not be as flavorful.
  • Add other vegetables, such as onions or tomatoes, to the cheese mixture for a more colorful and flavorful toast.
