Easy Orange Cream Drop Scones

**Ingredients:** *For the batter:* - 2 cups all-purpose flour - 2 teaspoons baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt - 1/4 cup sugar - 2 tablespoons orange zest - 1/4 cup fresh orange juice - 1 cup heavy cream - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract *For the glaze:* - 1 cup powdered sugar - 1 tablespoon orange zest - 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract - 1 tablespoon cream or milk - 1-2 tablespoons fresh orange juice **Instructions:** 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
Line a large baking sheet (13x18)
with parchment paper
or a silicone mat. 2. In a large bowl, whisk together
the flour, baking powder, salt,
and sugar. Add the orange zest
and whisk with the flour mixture,
breaking up any clumps.
Add the orange juice, cream,
and vanilla extract.
Stir gently until just no dry bits are
visible. Don't overmix.
The dough should be thick and
sticky. 3. Drop the dough in 8 equal
portions, a generous 1/3-cup each,
onto the prepared baking sheet.
(A large scoop makes this task
easier.) Flatten the scones slightly
with damp fingers and smooth out
any shaggy, stray bits. 4. Bake the scones for 20-22 minutes
, or until golden on the edges.
Leave the scones on the baking
sheet for 10 minutes before
transferring them to a cooling
rack to cool completely. 5. To make the glaze, whisk
together the powdered sugar,
orange zest, vanilla extract, cream,
and 1 tablespoon of orange juice.
If the glaze is too thick, add more
orange juice, 1 teaspoon at a time,
until it reaches a drizzling
consistency. 6. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled
scones. 7. Enjoy!
