Chocolate Banana Overnight Oats

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rolled oats (use gluten-free if preferred)
  • 1 ½ cups milk (dairy or non-dairy, like almond or oat milk)
  • ½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • ¼ cup Greek yogurt (optional, for creaminess)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (adjust sweetness to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest (plus extra for garnish)
  • Pinch of salt

Optional Garnishes:

  • Additional cranberries
  • Extra orange zest

Instructions:

  1. Gather Ingredients: Measure and prep all your ingredients. Fresh orange juice and zest provide the best flavor.

  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, stir together the oats, dried cranberries, orange zest, and a pinch of salt.

  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Pour in the milk, orange juice, maple syrup (or honey), vanilla extract, and Greek yogurt (if using). Stir until everything is well combined.

  4. Portion: Divide the mixture evenly into individual jars or containers with lids. Mason jars are perfect for this!

  5. Refrigerate: Cover the jars and place them in the refrigerator for at least 6-8 hours, or overnight, to let the oats absorb the liquid and soften.

  6. Garnish and Serve: The next morning, give the oats a quick stir and top with extra cranberries and orange zest for a burst of color. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Notes:

  • Customize Sweetness: Adjust the amount of maple syrup or honey to your taste.
  • Add Crunch: Top with nuts like almonds or walnuts for added texture.
  • Use Chia Seeds: Add a tablespoon of chia seeds for extra omega-3s and a thicker texture.
  • Spice It Up: Try adding a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg for a cozy, spiced flavor.
  • Warm Option: If you prefer warm oats, heat them gently in the microwave or on the stovetop.
