Ingredients:
- 1 ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled to room temperature
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 ¼ cup mashed bananas (about 3 bananas)
- ¼ cup sour cream
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a 9x5 inch loaf pan with baking paper and grease the sides.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Whisk the sour cream and mashed bananas into the melted butter mixture.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour the wet ingredients into the well. Gently fold the ingredients together until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool completely in the pan before slicing and serving.
Tips:
- For a richer chocolate flavor, use Dutch-processed cocoa powder.
- Make sure to use ripe bananas for the best flavor and texture.
- If you don't have sour cream, you can substitute plain yogurt.
- To freeze the bread, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and place it in a freezer-safe bag. Freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before slicing and serving.
