DOUBLE CHOCOLATE BANANA BREAD

Ingredients:

  • 1 ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled to room temperature
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cup mashed bananas (about 3 bananas)
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a 9x5 inch loaf pan with baking paper and grease the sides.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Whisk the sour cream and mashed bananas into the melted butter mixture.
  5. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour the wet ingredients into the well. Gently fold the ingredients together until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool completely in the pan before slicing and serving.

Tips:

  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use Dutch-processed cocoa powder.
  • Make sure to use ripe bananas for the best flavor and texture.
  • If you don't have sour cream, you can substitute plain yogurt.
  • To freeze the bread, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and place it in a freezer-safe bag. Freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before slicing and serving.
