Pear Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 5 pears
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions:

  1. Peel the pears (if desired) and cut them into even-sized chunks.
  2. Add the pears to a large pot along with the remaining ingredients and stir well.
  3. Bring the water to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer (uncovered) until the pears are soft, about 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Use an immersion blender, regular blender, or food processor to puree the pears to your desired consistency. You can leave some pear chunks in it, if you like, or puree them completely until no chunks remain and the entire sauce is smooth.
  5. If not using right away, allow the pear sauce to cool completely before transferring it to containers or jars. Store it in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Notes:

  • Make sure the sauce has cooled down before transferring it to a blender or food processor.
  • If using an immersion blender, there is no need to let the sauce cool before blending. You can blend it directly in the pot.

Enjoy!

Additional Notes:

  • You can use any type of pear you like, but Bartlett pears are a good choice for pear sauce because they are soft and sweet.
  • If you are using a regular blender or food processor, be sure to blend the pear sauce in batches so that it doesn't overflow.
  • You can also add other spices to the pear sauce, such as nutmeg, cloves, or allspice.
  • Pear sauce is a delicious and versatile topping for pancakes, waffles, yogurt, and ice cream. It can also be used as a filling for pies and tarts.
