Ingredients:
- Brisket rub:
- 3 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- Barbecue sauce:
- ¾ cup barbecue sauce
- ¼ cup water (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
- ½ onion, sliced into rings
- 1 ½ pounds beef brisket
Instructions:
- Gather all ingredients.
- Prepare the brisket rub: In a bowl, combine the paprika, pepper, salt, brown sugar, chili powder, and cumin. Rub the mixture evenly over the brisket. Place the brisket in a large, resealable plastic bag and refrigerate for 30 minutes to overnight.
- When ready to cook, prepare the barbecue sauce: In the bottom of a slow cooker, stir together the barbecue sauce, water (if using), Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke.
- Remove the brisket from the refrigerator and take it out of the bag. Place the brisket in the barbecue sauce in the slow cooker and arrange the onion rings over the top.
- Cook on low for 6 to 7 hours, or until the brisket is very tender.
- Let the brisket rest for 10 minutes before slicing or shredding. Serve with the sauce from the slow cooker.
Tips:
- If you don't have liquid smoke flavoring, you can omit it.
- You can also add other vegetables to the slow cooker, such as carrots, potatoes, or celery.
- Serve your brisket with your favorite toppings, such as mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, or coleslaw.
- Enjoy!
