- Seasoning Mix:
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon granulated onion
- ½ teaspoon granulated garlic
- ¼ teaspoon white pepper
- Olive or avocado oil
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 1 pound lean ground beef (85/15)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 4 cloves garlic, pressed
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
- 10 ounces elbow macaroni (uncooked)
- 1 teaspoon chopped parsley, plus extra leaves for garnish
- ½ cup grated jack cheese
- ½ cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
Preparation
Prepare Seasoning Mix: In a small ramekin, combine the cumin, paprika, granulated onion, granulated garlic, and white pepper. Set aside.
Cook Onions: Heat about 2 tablespoons of olive or avocado oil in a large cast-iron skillet or oven-safe pan over medium-high heat. Add the diced onions and sauté for about 5 minutes, until golden-brown and sweet-smelling.
Brown Beef: Crumble the ground beef into the skillet with the onions. Season with salt, black pepper, and the prepared seasoning mix. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes.
Add Garlic and Tomato Paste: Stir in the pressed garlic until aromatic. Add the tomato paste and stir to incorporate.
Add Sauces: Pour in the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes. Season with additional salt if needed. Let the sauce simmer uncovered on low heat for about 15-20 minutes.
Cook Macaroni: While the sauce simmers, cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain and keep warm.
Combine Ingredients: Stir the chopped parsley into the sauce, then gently mix in the cooked elbow macaroni until well combined.
Broil: Preheat your broiler on high. Top the Beefaroni with the grated jack and sharp cheddar cheeses. Place the skillet under the broiler for about 5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve: Garnish with extra parsley if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
This Beefaroni recipe combines hearty flavors with a cheesy, comforting topping. Perfect for a satisfying meal!
