Fried Chicken Recipe


Ingredients:

  • 2 lb. chicken drumsticks
  • 1 egg
  • 1-2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1-2 teaspoons minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon seasoning mix (e.g., Magic Sarap)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1-2 cups oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken:

    • Place the chicken drumsticks in a large mixing bowl.
    • Add the minced garlic and onion, oyster sauce, salt, black pepper, seasoning mix, egg, and cornstarch.
    • Mix thoroughly until each piece of chicken is well-coated with the seasoning mixture.
  2. Heat the Oil:

    • In a large pot, heat the oil over medium heat.
    • Ensure the oil is sufficiently hot before adding the chicken (around 350°F if using a thermometer).
  3. Fry the Chicken:

    • Carefully lower the chicken pieces into the pot one at a time.
    • Ensure the oil almost completely submerges the chicken and bubbles gently during cooking.
    • Fry the chicken until it turns a beautiful golden brown and the skin crisps up perfectly. This could take anywhere from 15-20 minutes, depending on your oil temperature.
  4. Cook in Batches:

    • Continue frying the chicken in small batches to avoid overcrowding the pot.
    • Once done, remove the chicken and place it on paper towels to absorb the excess oil.
  5. Serve:

    • Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before serving to let the juices redistribute.
    • Serve hot and enjoy your crispy, flavorful chicken drumsticks!
