Ingredients:
- 6 1/2 cups rice Chex or corn Chex
- 6 cups golden Grahams cereal
- 2 cups coconut flakes
- 2 cups sliced almonds
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup salted butter
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Combine Cereals and Nuts: In a large bowl, mix together the rice Chex, golden Grahams, coconut flakes, and sliced almonds.
- Make the Caramel: In a medium saucepan, combine the corn syrup, sugar, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Cool the Caramel: Boil the mixture for 2 minutes, then let it cool for 2 minutes.
- Coat the Mixture: Pour the cooled caramel over the cereal mixture and stir until all the pieces are evenly coated.
- Spread and Cool: Spread the coated mixture evenly on a baking sheet lined with wax paper or parchment paper. Let it cool completely.
Notes:
- Store the Chex Mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
- Feel free to customize the recipe by adding or substituting ingredients like pretzels, chocolate chips, or different nuts.
- Make the Chex Mix ahead of time for parties or snacks.
