Bacon Cheeseburger Pie with Pie Crust

Ingredients:

  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup Hormel real bacon bits (or 5 slices of bacon cooked and crumbled)
  • 1/3 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cook beef and onion: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion until the meat is brown. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. Add garlic and bacon: Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds. Stir in the bacon bits (or crumbled cooked bacon).
  4. Combine ingredients: Add the Panko bread crumbs, ketchup, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and ground pepper to the skillet. Heat through and spread the mixture evenly in the bottom of the unbaked pie crust.
  5. Make the egg wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Pour this mixture over the meat mixture in the pie crust.
  6. Bake: Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is light brown.
  7. Add cheese: Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly over the top of the pie and bake for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  8. Serve: Let the pie cool slightly before serving. Garnish with chopped tomatoes, diced pickles, green onions, thousand island dressing, or sour cream, if desired.

Enjoy your delicious Cheesy Beef and Bacon Pie!
