Delicious Bagels with Cream Cheese and Smoked Salmon


Ingredients

  • Bagels: Regular or whole grain (or substitutes as needed)
  • Cream Cheese: Plain or herb-flavored
  • Smoked Salmon: Thinly sliced
  • Lemon Juice: Freshly squeezed
  • Fresh Dill: Chopped (or dried dill or other herbs if fresh isn’t available)
  • Capers: Drained (or olives as an alternative)
  • Red Onion: Thinly sliced (or shallots/green onions as substitutes)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture:

    • In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese with a splash of lemon juice, chopped fresh dill, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until smooth.
  2. Toast the Bagels:

    • Slice the bagels in half and toast them to your desired level of crispness. You can use a toaster or toast them in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for about 2 minutes.
  3. Assemble the Bagels:

    • Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture on each toasted bagel half.
    • Top with slices of smoked salmon, capers, and thin slices of red onion.
  4. Finish and Serve:

    • Garnish with additional chopped fresh dill.
    • Optionally, squeeze a little more lemon juice over the top for added zest.
    • Serve immediately and enjoy!
