Chocolate Caramel Walnut Banana Waffles


Ingredients:

For the Chocolate Waffles:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

For the Banana Caramel Walnut Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 3/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup toasted walnuts, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional additions:
  • A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg
  • A splash of rum or bourbon

Instructions:

To Prepare the Chocolate Waffles:

  1. Combine wet ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together egg, milk, vanilla extract, and oil.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and baking powder.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Cook waffles: Preheat a waffle iron. Pour batter onto the preheated iron and cook according to manufacturer's instructions.

To Prepare the Banana Caramel Walnut Sauce:

  1. Melt butter and warm bananas: In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced bananas and cook until softened.
  2. Combine ingredients: Stir in caramel sauce, toasted walnuts, and vanilla extract. Cook for a minute or two until heated through.

To Serve:
