Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced green pepper
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix meatloaf mixture: Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
  3. Layer meatloaf: Press half the mixture into a loaf pan. Layer provolone cheese on top. Cover with the remaining meat mixture.
  4. Prepare sauce: Whisk together beef broth, ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard.
  5. Top with sauce: Pour sauce over the meatloaf.
  6. Bake: Bake for 1 hour, or until cooked through and golden brown.
  7. Rest and serve: Let meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Tips:

  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños to the meat mixture.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a side salad.
