Ingredients:
For the Burgers:- 12 ounces ground beef (or 16 ounces for larger burgers)
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- 1/4 cup crushed tortilla chips
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 roasted jalapeno pepper, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 2 large slices cheddar cheese
- 1 roasted jalapeno pepper, sliced into rings (for serving)
- Creamy guacamole (optional)
Instructions:
- Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, taco seasoning, crushed tortilla chips, beaten egg, chopped jalapeno pepper, chopped onion, and chopped garlic. Mix gently, being careful not to overmix.
- Sauté the Aromatics: Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook for about 5 minutes, or until softened. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute, or until fragrant. Remove from heat.
- Form the Patties: Add the cooked onion and garlic to the beef mixture. Mix gently again. Form the mixture into two large patties.
- Cook the Burgers: Cook the burgers in the same pan over medium heat for about 5 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
- Add Cheese and Serve: Top each burger with a slice of cheese and cover the pan for a minute, or until the cheese melts. Serve the burgers on buns, topped with guacamole and sliced jalapeno peppers, if desired.
