Honey Ginger Chicken


Ingredients:

For the Chicken:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tablespoon crushed garlic
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 small green chili pepper, minced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions:

  1. Marinate Chicken: Combine chicken, egg white, garlic, soy sauce, white pepper, black pepper, salt, baking soda, and sesame oil in a bowl. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Coat Chicken: Dredge marinated chicken in a mixture of cornstarch and flour.
  3. Fry Chicken: Heat oil in a deep skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Make Sauce: Combine honey, soy sauce, ginger, chili pepper, rice vinegar, and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until thickened.
  5. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Toss fried chicken in the honey garlic sauce to coat.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately with rice or noodles.
