Cinnamon Roll Breakfast Casserole

Cinnamon Roll Breakfast Casserole

A Perfect Start to Your Morning

On a chilly Sunday morn, as the winds blow cold outside, there’s nothing better than the scent of cinnamon wafting through the house. It reminds one of simpler days when families gathered around the hearth, sharing good food and good company. This delightful casserole brings the beloved taste of cinnamon rolls into a baked form, making breakfast both comforting and easy.

Serves 12

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans of Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls (12.4 ounces each)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup of half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of butter, melted
  • Optional: 1/4 cup of pecans, 1/4 cup sour cream

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to a steady 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter to keep your casserole from sticking.

  2. Open the cans of cinnamon rolls, and with a sharp knife, cut the dough into quarters. Place these little pieces in the prepared dish, ensuring they are scattered evenly across the bottom.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, brown sugar, and melted butter until well-combined. If you choose to use pecans or sour cream, stir them in now.

  4. Pour the egg mixture over the cinnamon rolls, making sure each piece of dough is covered generously with the mixture.

  5. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 28 to 32 minutes, or until the casserole is golden and puffed. It should be firm to the touch.

  6. Allow the casserole to rest for a few minutes. If you like, drizzle the icing from the cinnamon rolls on top or add a spoonful of maple syrup.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve warm with a pot of coffee or tea. It pairs wonderfully with crispy bacon or sausage for a heartier meal, and a fresh fruit salad would brighten the plate.

Tips for Success:

  • For a richer flavor, consider letting the casserole sit overnight in the fridge before baking. This allows the flavors to meld and makes the morning preparation all the easier.
  • If you want a little extra sweetness, drizzle maple syrup or honey over the top before serving.
  • Feel free to mix in some berries, apples, or even chocolate chips if you like.

This Cinnamon Roll Breakfast Casserole is the perfect dish to bring family and friends together, with the sweet aroma filling the house and hearts alike. A simple, hearty breakfast that evokes warmth, love, and good memories.

Enjoy!
