CINNAMON SUGAR BISCUIT DONUTS

Ingredients:

  • 1 tube Pillsbury biscuits (8 count)
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Use a melon baller or round cookie cutter to cut a hole in the center of each biscuit.
  4. Carefully add the biscuits to the hot oil, frying four at a time. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  5. Remove the biscuits from the oil and immediately toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Repeat steps 4-5 with the remaining biscuits.
  7. Serve the donuts warm and enjoy!

Tips:

  • To test if the oil is hot enough, drop a small piece of dough into the oil. If the dough sizzles and immediately floats to the top, the oil is ready.
  • Be careful not to overcrowd the pan when frying the donuts. This will lower the temperature of the oil and make the donuts greasy.
  • If you don't have a melon baller or round cookie cutter, you can use a knife to cut a hole in the center of each biscuit.
  • If you want to make glazed donuts, simply dip the fried donuts in a glaze of your choice. To make a simple glaze, combine 1 cup of powdered sugar with 2-3 tablespoons of milk until smooth.
