Ingredients:

Biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Topping

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon parsley leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and cayenne pepper.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and melted butter.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the cheese.
  5. Drop the dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
  7. While the biscuits are baking, combine the melted butter, parsley, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  8. Brush the butter mixture over the hot biscuits as soon as they come out of the oven.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Tips:

  • For fluffier biscuits, make sure to use cold ingredients and don't overmix the dough.
  • If you don't have cayenne pepper, you can substitute 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
  • You can also add other ingredients to the biscuits, such as chopped herbs, spices, or cooked vegetables.
  • Serve the biscuits with your favorite sides, such as soup, chili, or gravy.
