Ingredients
For The Filling
- 2 lbs Apples approx 6 medium apples at room temperature peeled, cored, and cut into wedges)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ½ cup light-brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter melted
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For The Topping
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup rolled oats
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 8 tablespoons butter 1 stick/½ cup/8oz melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C and position the oven rack one level below the center. Butter a 12 by 8-inch baking dish (or medium casserole dish with a similar size) and set aside.
For The Filling
- Mix the apples with the lemon juice in a small mixing bowl. Add the flour, brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt and toss to coat evenly. Mix in the melted butter and vanilla.
- Pour apple mixture into a prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
For The Topping
- In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, oats, sugars, salt, and cinnamon.
- Mix the melted butter into the dry ingredients well combined.
- Sprinkle the topping over the apples in the dish.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
