Easy Sauteed Mushrooms with Balsamic and Garlic


Ingredients:

  • 500 grams white button mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon spice blend (e.g., smoked paprika, red curry powder, Italian seasoning)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh thyme for garnish
  • Optional: 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Prepare mushrooms: Wipe mushrooms with a clean kitchen towel. Do not wash.
  2. Sauté mushrooms: Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms, spice blend, salt, and pepper. Cook undisturbed until browned.
  3. Add garlic and balsamic: Reduce heat. Add garlic and balsamic vinegar. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until balsamic has evaporated.
  4. Serve: Transfer mushrooms to a serving bowl. Garnish with fresh thyme and Parmesan cheese (if desired).

Optional additions:

  • For extra flavor: Add a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce.
  • For a smoky flavor: Add a teaspoon of smoked paprika to the spice blend.
  • For a tangy kick: Add a tablespoon of lemon juice or orange zest.
  • For additional vegetables: Add spinach, kale, or shallots to the skillet.
