French Toast Sandwich on Hawaiian Rolls

Ingredients:

For the French Toast:

  • 24 Hawaiian rolls, cut horizontally and into sections of 4 rolls
  • 3 eggs
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream or half and half
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter

For the Scrambled Eggs:

  • 8 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper
  • 1 pound bacon, cooked crispy
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions:

  1. Prepare French toast batter: Whisk together eggs, cream, cinnamon, and sugar in a shallow dish.
  2. Cook French toast: Heat butter in a large skillet over low heat. Dip French toast slices into batter and cook for 2 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Top with cheese and set aside.
  3. Scramble eggs: In the same skillet, increase heat to medium-low. Add butter, eggs, heavy cream, hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Scramble until cooked through.
  4. Assemble sandwiches: Place scrambled eggs and bacon on bottom buns. Top with French toast slices and remaining bun. Serve with syrup, if desired.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor: Use a combination of heavy cream and milk for the French toast batter.
  • Customize the filling: Add other ingredients to the scrambled eggs, such as sautéed vegetables or shredded cheese.
  • Make ahead: Prepare the French toast and scrambled eggs in advance and assemble the sandwiches just before serving.

Enjoy your delicious and satisfying French Toast Sandwich!
