Ingredients:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 apples, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme, for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Caramelize onions and apples: In a large skillet, melt butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and golden brown. Add apples and cook until softened. Stir in honey and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.
- Prepare tartlets: Roll out puff pastry and cut into circles using a round cookie cutter. Place circles in muffin tins.
- Fill and bake: Fill each pastry shell with the caramelized onion and apple mixture. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
