Witch’s Brew Brownies

Ingredients:

  • For the Base:

    • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 2 cups granulated sugar
    • 4 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • For the Spooky Swirl:

    • Green and purple food coloring

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Beat until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Mix Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Create the Spooky Swirl: Divide the batter into two equal portions. Color one portion green and the other purple using food coloring.
  6. Layer the Batter: Pour half of the green batter into the prepared pan. Top with half of the purple batter. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl the batters together, creating a spooky, marbled effect.
  7. Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool and Serve: Let the brownies cool completely before cutting into squares. Decorate with Halloween sprinkles, if desired.

Enjoy your spooky Halloween treat!

Optional Halloween Decoration Ideas:

  • Ghost Brownies: Cut out ghost shapes from white fondant and place them on top of the brownies.
  • Spooky Spider Webs: Drizzle melted white chocolate in a web pattern over the brownies.
  • Halloween Sprinkles: Add a festive touch with Halloween-themed sprinkles.
  • Monster Mouth Brownies: Cut out monster mouths from red licorice and add two white chocolate eyes.

Have fun and happy baking!
