Ingredients
- 5 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced into 1/2" thick slices
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Pinch of kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Instructions
- Saute the apples: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the butter, apple slices, cinnamon, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt. Stir to combine well. Cook, stirring every few minutes, for 8-10 minutes, or until the apples are starting to soften.
- Make the slurry: In a small mixing bowl, combine the water, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Whisk or stir until smooth.
- Thicken the sauce: Pour the slurry mixture into the skillet with the apples and stir. Cook another 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce has thickened to your liking.
- Cool and serve: Remove the skillet from the heat and allow the apples to cool slightly before serving.
