Easy Skillet Fried Apples

Ingredients

  • 5 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced into 1/2" thick slices
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Saute the apples: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the butter, apple slices, cinnamon, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt. Stir to combine well. Cook, stirring every few minutes, for 8-10 minutes, or until the apples are starting to soften.
  2. Make the slurry: In a small mixing bowl, combine the water, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Whisk or stir until smooth.
  3. Thicken the sauce: Pour the slurry mixture into the skillet with the apples and stir. Cook another 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce has thickened to your liking.
  4. Cool and serve: Remove the skillet from the heat and allow the apples to cool slightly before serving.

Chef Tips

  • This recipe serves about 6 people, but you can adjust the serving size to your liking.
  • You can leave the apples unpeeled if you prefer.

Enjoy!
