For the Dough:
- 4 cups (500 grams) bread flour
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 12 ounces water (room temperature or cold)
For the Topping:
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten with 1 tablespoon water
- 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions:
- Make the Dough:
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and yeast.
- Gradually add water, mixing until a dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise at room temperature for 18-24 hours.
- Prepare the Topping:
- In a small bowl, combine egg, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Shape the Breadsticks:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 pieces.
- Roll each piece into an 8-inch long breadstick.
- Place breadsticks on prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them.
- Brush and Top:
- Brush breadsticks with the egg wash.
- Sprinkle with the topping mixture.
- Bake:
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve:
- Let cool slightly before serving.
