Turkey Meatballs for Toddlers


Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs or oat flour
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 large red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 medium carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 small zucchini, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg (optional)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
Optional additions:
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh herbs (e.g., parsley, basil)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions:

  1. Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, onion, bell pepper, carrot, zucchini, egg (if using), garlic, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well until combined.
  2. Form meatballs: Using clean hands, form the mixture into small meatballs.
  3. Cook meatballs:
    • Skillet method: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through.
    • Oven method: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through.

Optional additions:

  • For extra flavor: Add chopped fresh herbs or red pepper flakes to the meatball mixture.
  • For a richer texture: Add a tablespoon of mayonnaise or cream cheese to the mixture.
  • For a spicier kick: Increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
