Brownie Banana Bread, Smudgy and Fudgy


Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas, mashed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  2. Combine wet ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together mashed bananas, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa powder, dark brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips (if using).
  5. Bake: Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool: Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Optional additions:

  • For extra flavor: Add a teaspoon of espresso powder or a pinch of cardamom.
  • For a richer texture: Use Greek yogurt instead of one of the eggs.
  • For a nuttier flavor: Add chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
