Ingredients:
- 3 pounds whole chicken wings
- ¾ cup pineapple juice
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon black food coloring
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons rice or apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon five-spice powder
Instructions:
- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a rack on top. Spray the rack with non-stick spray.
- Make sauce: In a bowl, combine pineapple juice, brown sugar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, black food coloring, honey, vinegar, and any optional additions. Mix well.
- Prepare chicken wings: Place chicken wings on the prepared rack.
- Bake chicken wings: Baste chicken wings with sauce. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven, flip wings, and baste again. Bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until cooked through.
- Serve: Serve immediately.
Optional additions:
- For extra flavor: Add ginger, red pepper flakes, or five-spice powder to the sauce.
- For a spicier kick: Increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
