Blue Spirulina Smoothie Bowl

Here’s a refreshing and nutrient-packed Blue Spirulina Smoothie Bowl that’s both creamy and vibrant! This recipe combines the sweetness of frozen banana with the creamy texture of zucchini and the added health benefits of spirulina.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen banana slices (about 1 medium banana)
  • 1 cup frozen zucchini slices (about 1 medium zucchini)
  • ⅔ cup unsweetened plant milk (almond, coconut, oat, or soy)
  • 1 tablespoon nut butter (peanut, cashew, or almond)
  • 1-2 teaspoons blue spirulina powder

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Ingredients:

    • Place the frozen banana slices, frozen zucchini slices, plant milk, nut butter, and 1 teaspoon blue spirulina powder in the bowl of a blender.
  2. Blend:

    • Start blending! It will be thick at first, so you might need to stop the blender a few times to stir and scrape the sides. Keep blending until the mixture becomes thick and creamy, almost like soft-serve ice cream.
  3. Adjust Color:

    • If you want a deeper blue color, add another teaspoon of spirulina powder and blend again.
  4. Serve:

    • Transfer the smoothie into a bowl and top with your favorite toppings. Some great choices are fresh banana slices, raspberries, blueberries, and hemp seeds.

Notes:

  • Make sure the bananas and zucchini are frozen solid for the best texture, and ensure the plant milk is cold.
  • If your blender struggles at first, don't worry! Stop the motor, stir, scrape, and keep blending.
  • Spirulina powder will give the smoothie a beautiful blue color. Start with 1 teaspoon for a lighter blue, and use up to 2 teaspoons for a deeper shade.
  • You can top your bowl with any fresh fruit, nuts, chocolate chips, shredded coconut, or more nut butter to customize it to your taste.

This smoothie bowl is packed with nutrients, easy to make, and visually stunning! Enjoy!
