Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 cups Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cheese
Cut the mozzarella cheese into long slices approximately 3/8 inch thick.

  2. Prepare the Dipping Stations

    • In a bowl, blend together the flour and cornstarch.
    • In a separate bowl, pour the milk.
    • In a third bowl, add the Italian seasoned breadcrumbs.
  3. Coat the Cheese

    • Place a cheese slice into the flour mixture, then dip it into the milk, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Shake off any excess breadcrumbs.
    • Place the breaded mozzarella stick on a wire rack.
  4. Double Dipping for Extra Crispy
Repeat the process until all the cheese sticks are coated. After all cheese sticks are dipped once, discard the leftover flour.

    • Return each cheese stick back into the milk for a second dip, followed by the breadcrumb mixture again. Shake off the excess breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat the Oil
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F.

  6. Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Drop a few cheese sticks into the hot oil at a time, frying for about 1 minute or until golden brown and crispy. Be careful not to overcook.

    • Remove the mozzarella sticks from the oil and place them on a wire rack to drain any excess oil.
  7. Repeat
Continue frying the remaining breaded cheese sticks in batches.

  8. Serve
Serve the hot mozzarella sticks with your favorite marinara sauce for dipping.

Enjoy these crispy, gooey mozzarella sticks fresh from the fryer!
