Ingredients:
- 1 lb breakfast sausage (spicy or mild)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 (8-ounce) cans refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat the oven:
Set your oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.Cook the sausage:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease.Make the filling:
Add softened cream cheese to the cooked sausage and stir until well combined. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper if desired.Prepare the crescent rolls:
Unroll the first can of crescent rolls and lay it flat in the baking dish. Pinch the seams together to form a smooth crust.Assemble the casserole:
Spread the sausage mixture over the crescent roll layer. If using, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
Unroll the second can of crescent rolls and lay it over the filling, pinching the seams to seal the top.Bake:
Bake for 15–20 minutes until the crescent rolls are golden brown. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover it with foil during the last 5–7 minutes.Serve:
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes to set before slicing into squares. Serve warm and enjoy!
