Jalapeño Popper Puff Pastry Twists

🌶️ Jalapeño Bacon Cheddar Twists

Crispy, cheesy, spicy puff pastry snacks — perfect for parties or game day!

🧾 Ingredients

  • 1–2 sheets Frozen Puff Pastry, thawed

  • 3 Jalapeño Peppers, thinly sliced

  • 6 oz Cream Cheese, very soft

  • 6 strips Bacon, cooked and chopped

  • 8 oz Sharp Cheddar Cheese, grated

  • 1 Egg, beaten

  • Ranch Dressing, for serving

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly dust it with flour.

  2. Roll Out the Pastry
Place 1 thawed puff pastry sheet on the prepared pan. Gently roll it out to about ¼-inch thick.

📝 Note: You can double the recipe by using two sheets of pastry. In that case, repeat the filling process with both sheets.

  3. Add the Filling
On half of the pastry sheet, spread the softened cream cheese evenly. Top with:

    • Sliced jalapeños

    • Half of the grated cheddar

    • Chopped bacon

  4. Seal & Slice
Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling. Gently press to seal.
Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice into ½-inch wide strips.

  5. Twist & Arrange
Twist each strip and place them spaced apart on the baking sheet.

  6. Egg Wash & Cheese
Brush each twist with the beaten egg, then sprinkle the tops with the remaining cheddar.

  7. Bake
Bake on the middle rack for 15–20 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through. They're done when deep golden brown.

  8. Cool & Serve
Let cool for 5–10 minutes. Serve warm with ranch dressing on the side.

🔥 Pro Tips

  • For extra heat, leave some jalapeño seeds in.

  • Too spicy? Swap jalapeños with thin-sliced sweet peppers.

  • Use flavored cream cheese (like chive or garlic) for an extra flavor boost.

🍻 Perfect Pairings

  • Cold beer or sparkling water

  • Crisp salad with ranch dressing

  • Deviled eggs or slider platters for parties

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Pastry too cold or too warm: Let it thaw just enough to roll without cracking, but not so much it turns sticky.

  • Overfilling: Keep fillings evenly distributed to avoid leaks while baking.

  • Skipping the egg wash: It gives that gorgeous golden finish!
