Ingredients
- 4 strips thick-cut bacon, cut into lardons
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 lb kielbasa, sliced
- 1 yellow onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 small head green cabbage, cored and roughly chopped
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
Instructions
Prep Ingredients:
- Cut bacon into lardons and slice the kielbasa.
- Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic.
- Core and roughly chop the cabbage.
Cook Bacon:
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the bacon and cook until golden brown. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Cook Kielbasa:
- In the same skillet, add vegetable oil and sliced kielbasa. Cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Cook Vegetables:
- Reduce heat to medium and add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute.
- Add the chopped cabbage and cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Season & Simmer:
- Stir in salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, ground cumin, and tomato paste.
- Pour in the chicken broth, cover the skillet, and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 15 minutes until the cabbage is tender-crisp.
Finish & Serve:
- Uncover the skillet and return the cooked kielbasa and bacon to the pan. Stir well and simmer uncovered for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
