Shortcut Easy Apple Fritters


Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons apple butter
  • 3 cups chopped honeycrisp apples
For the vanilla glaze:
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1-3 teaspoons instant coffee powder (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with paper cupcake liners.
  2. Prepare filling: In a bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Assemble fritters: Lay one pastry sheet flat on a counter. Brush with melted butter, apple butter, and cinnamon sugar. Arrange half of the apples over the sugar. Place a second sheet of pastry on top and seal the edges. Roll the dough into a log and cut into 6-8 rounds. Place in cupcake liners.
  4. Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  5. Make glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and coffee powder (if using).
  6. Serve: Drizzle glaze over fritters and sprinkle with sea salt.

Tips:

  • For a crispier fritter, bake for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  • If you don't have apple butter, you can use applesauce instead.
  • For a vegan option, use vegan puff pastry and vegan butter.
