Stromboli Recipe


Ingredients:

  • 1 pound homemade or store-bought pizza dough
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pound sliced pepperoni
  • 1/2 pound sliced deli ham
  • 1/2 pound sliced salami
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Kosher or flaky salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Marinara sauce, for dipping

Instructions:

  1. Prepare dough: Let dough rise according to package instructions or until doubled in size.
  2. Roll and assemble: Roll out dough on a floured surface. Brush with olive oil, garlic, and parsley. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and half of the mozzarella. Layer with pepperoni, ham, and salami. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella.
  3. Roll and seal: Roll dough tightly into a log, sealing the edges.
  4. Proof: Place seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let rise for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Egg wash and season: Brush dough with egg wash and sprinkle with salt and garlic powder.
  7. Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Rest and serve: Let cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve with marinara sauce.

Optional additions:

  • For extra flavor: Add a teaspoon of dried oregano or basil to the olive oil mixture.
  • For a spicier kick: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or crushed red pepper to the olive oil mixture.
  • For a cheesy twist: Add more mozzarella or provolone cheese to the filling.
  • For a vegetarian option: Replace the meat with vegetables like mushrooms, spinach, or roasted red peppers.
