Ingredients:
- 1 box chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz) – Go for a dark chocolate variety for extra decadence!
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter – The smoother, the better!
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup milk – Whole milk works best, but any milk will do.
- 3 large eggs – Room temperature, please!
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet) – Mix in milk chocolate chips for variety if you like.
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted – Salted butter works too, just omit the extra salt.
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – Pure vanilla extract is worth the splurge!
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Optional Toppings:
- Extra peanut butter
- Powdered sugar
- Ice cream
- Whipped cream
Instructions:
Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Make the cake batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, milk, eggs, and melted butter. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
Pour the batter: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Prepare the peanut butter mixture: In a separate bowl, mix the peanut butter, powdered sugar, and salt until smooth and creamy.
Create the swirl: Drop dollops of the peanut butter mixture over the chocolate batter. Use a knife to swirl it gently into the cake mix.
Add chocolate chips: Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top of the batter.
Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Optional toppings: Add an extra spoonful of peanut butter on top of each serving, or top with powdered sugar, ice cream, or whipped cream for added richness.
