Ingredients:
- 4 cups fresh rhubarb, diced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 box yellow cake mix (around 15.25 oz)
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional, for a warm spice twist)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
Layer the rhubarb: Evenly spread the diced rhubarb across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Add sugar: Sprinkle the granulated sugar evenly over the rhubarb.
Add the cake mix: Pour the dry yellow cake mix directly over the rhubarb and sugar layer. Spread it out evenly with a spoon or spatula.
Drizzle water: Pour the water evenly over the cake mix. It might look uneven, but that's part of the "dump cake" magic!
Add butter: Evenly drizzle the melted butter over the entire cake mix layer.
Optional spices: Sprinkle ground cinnamon over the top if you like a warm, spiced touch. A pinch of salt will help balance the sweetness.
Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and slightly crisp. The rhubarb filling should be bubbly.
Cool slightly: Let the cake cool for a few minutes before serving, though it's delicious when warm!
