Bulgogi Beef Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground sirloin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 pear, grated
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons mirin
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang or sambal oelek
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 1 large head butter lettuce
  • 1/2 cup julienned carrots
  • 1/2 cup julienned red peppers
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add ground beef and salt. Break up the beef with a spoon and cook until browned and crispy.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: Add onion and pear to the skillet. Cook until softened. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  3. Add Sauce: Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, sesame oil, black pepper, and gochujang in a small bowl. Pour over the beef and vegetable mixture. Stir to coat.
  4. Assemble Lettuce Wraps: Divide the beef mixture among lettuce leaves. Top with carrots, peppers, green onions, and sesame seeds.
