Ingredients (Serves 5):
For the Dumplings:
- 1 lb. Ground Beef
- 2 tbsp. Olive Oil
- 1 1/2 cups Shredded Cabbage
- 2″ Fresh Ginger, minced
- 2-3 Garlic Cloves, minced
- 1/3 cup Green Scallions, chopped
- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
- 1/4 tsp. Salt
- 1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
- 24 Square or Round Wonton Wrappers (store-bought)
For the Sauce:
- 1/3 cup Olive Oil
- 1″ Fresh Ginger, minced
- 1 tbsp. Chili Crisp Oil
- 1 tbsp. Sesame Seeds
- 1 tbsp. Honey
Instructions:
For the Dumplings:
Cook the Beef Mixture:
- In a large pan over medium-high heat, add the olive oil. Heat for about 1 minute.
- Add the ground beef to the pan. Break it up into large chunks and brown for 3-4 minutes. Then use a spatula to break it down into smaller pieces as it cooks.
- Add the shredded cabbage, minced ginger, and minced garlic to the pan. Stir for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the cabbage starts to soften.
- Stir in the chopped scallions, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the beef is fully cooked and all ingredients are well combined. Remove from heat and let cool.
Assemble the Dumplings:
- Brush the edges of each wonton wrapper with water to help seal them.
- Place 1-2 tablespoons of the beef-cabbage mixture in the center of each wrapper.
- If using round wrappers, fold the edges up to meet each other and pinch the edges together to seal the filling inside. To create a pleated look, pinch and fold the dough at the edges as you move forward (refer to a video for visual guidance).
- If using square wrappers, fold two opposite diagonal corners together to create a triangle. Pinch the edges to seal, then pinch the two outer corners together to form a dumpling shape.
Steam the Dumplings:
- Place the dumplings in a steam basket or a nonstick pan. Heat the pan over medium heat, then add 1-2 tbsp water and cover with a lid.
- Steam on low heat for 3-4 minutes, or until the dumplings are tender and cooked through.
- Remove the dumplings from the heat and set them aside on a plate.
For the Sauce:
- Make the Sauce:
- In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the olive oil, minced ginger, chili crisp oil, sesame seeds, and honey.
- Stir continuously for 2-3 minutes until the sauce is warmed and well combined.
- Serve:
- Drizzle the Ginger Chili Crisp Sauce over the dumplings before serving.
- Enjoy the dumplings warm, paired with the flavorful sauce!
Tips:
- Customizations: Feel free to experiment with the filling. You can add other vegetables like carrots, mushrooms, or even tofu to make it vegetarian.
- Make-Ahead: You can prepare the dumplings and freeze them before cooking. Just steam or fry them directly from frozen when you’re ready to serve.
